Hi,
I don't know what happened but in IE7 when I click on Tools\Internet Options
I get a window which states "This operation has been cancelled due to
restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your System
administrator"
I am the Administrator and am the only one using this computer.
Win XP Home SE2
IE7.0
1gig mem
200gig HD
Have all window updates.
I logged off and signed in as Administrator but still get the same message.
Appreciate any help with this problem.

Close IE.
Open Regedit.
Find the value NoBrowserOptions and remove every instance of it.
It is most likely (but not necessarily) to be here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions

It might be a security program blocking the Registry change it needs to
make. A few of the programs now doing this are:
Ad-aware's Ad-Watch
IBM Access Connections
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot> Tools> IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spysweeper
Windows Defender
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions.

In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 or Norton 2007 it actually has to be
uninstalled. Make sure the Windows Firewall is turned on until you
reinstall Zone Alarm.

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking with Networking and try the change.

I had the same problem --I posted it to the Vista and IE7 newsgroups and got
no replies. So I used System Restore and it went away. So that is another
option for you if regedit doesn't work.
