Internet options do not stick

I recently looked at my internet options (under tools,internet options in IE6) and noticed that some of my advanced options were not what I expected them to be. Two odd things; some of the items enabled such as Show go button and Image resizer are checked but do not show up in IE. The main problem I have is when changing these options, selecting apply then close and going back to options they have reverted to their original settings. In other words, I change them and they change themselves back. I have run Hijack this Ad-Aware and found nothing. Any hints or answers?
 
I went to some website, I got done there and hit home, it took me to some search everything website. So i figured i'd go into the options menu and change it. So i changed it and clicked apply and closed the window, then i re opend IE and it didn't change anything?????????
