INternet mail and Exchange in the same profile Outlook 2003

All my users have Exchange and Internet Email in the same profile with no
problems.

Upgraded a machine to Outlook 2003 and it doesn't work as well. It
constantly chooses the wrong transport
method and you have to manually select and it doesn't deliver messages to
distribution lists properl.
 
In what way does it pick the wrong transport? Can you give an example?
