Internet ftp access into my XP machine

Hi,

I have enabled ftp port forwarding on my WRT54G (v2 f/w 4.20.7) router to
allow ftp access from the internet side to one of the PCs on my WLAN (which
acts as a file server).

When I ftp to the address II am unable to access the machine. What do I
need to do on this XP-Home SP2 machine to enable it to respond with
something other than access denied?

Many thanks - __spc__

What address are you using? The LAN IP address of the FTP server won't
work; it will have to be the WAN IP address of the router at the port
that is designated: 123.456.wx.yz:abcd where 123.456.wx.yz is the WAN
IP of the router, and abcd is the port number that is being forwarded to
the server LAN IP address.

Is the "file server" running an FTP server? Windows XP does not come with
an FTP server, only an FTP client.
