internet exporer freezes every time i try to go to microsoft updat

every time i try to update microsoft, internet explorer freezes, now it won't
even let go to the upate site as soon as i click on the link it freezes, my
yellow security center down load icon has been on my task bar for a week at
zero, what is going on?

oh i forgot, I have run norton systems works and anti virus like ten times
trying to figure this, out they have both found nothing, no virus nothing.
Also, it freezes up when i try to go to updates with netscape internet
explorer. I have no idea what is going on any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Hi,
Try this...
Disable NIS and other third-party security software- firewall, antivirus,
ad-blockers, etc. If running Windows XP, turn on the Windows firewall
(Control Panel> Windows Firewall) before disabling a third-party firewall.

Next... Place microsoft in trusted sites. From Internet Options> Security>
Trusted Sites> Sites> uncheck "Require server verification (https for all
sites" then add " *.microsoft.com " (without the quotes) to this zone.
