Internet Explorer

Tried to use IE this morning and got a message saying that the DRM had
encountered a problem with IE and was closing it down. It didn't give me any
reason for it. Rebooted PC and tried agaian. Same thing so I went into
system and turned the DRM off for IE and rebooted. It's still doing it and
there's nothing I can find to 'repair' IE onlun an uninstall option.

Anyone any idea how to fix this?

That would be DEP closing IE, not DRM. the problem is most likely with an
addon. IE, Tools, Manage addons. Disable all of the addons and launch IE
again. If IE doesn't get closed by DEP, then re-enable them one by one to
track down the guilty party.

Sorry, meant to write DEP. I can't get into the tools menu to disable the
addons. It just closes down as soon as I try to get into it.

TIA

Try Internet Options in Control Panel.

I've done that and it's still doing it. Even tried to load firefox and the
same thing happened. I started PC in safe mode and IE came up no problem, so
I disabled all add ins, and reset to defaults, restarted and it was fine for
5 minutes , when it started happening again.

This is driving me nuts, I've had so many problems, it beggers belief!

And there's no help when it checks MS. RC1 was loads better than this!

What about System Restore?

Same thing. In Vista, when I close down Explorer with the X it just comes
back at me with an error message and then it restarts itself.

What's wrong? This is a brand new install and I don't know what I did today
to cause this except install a Logitech quickcam under Vista.

Daniel:
If the problem started after installing the quick cam, uninstall it
including drivers. If the IE problem is gone, it verifies that it was caused
by a driver conflict. Have a great day.

Think I may have found a work around.

Go to system properties, click on advanced tab then the Data Execution
Prevention. Select Turn on DEP for all programs except those I select. Click
on add and then go find ieplorer.exe and select it. Then click apply and OK.

IE (fingers crossed) seems to be working now.

All I need now is to get my raid drivers working and figure out why links in
emails are suddenly blocked with no option of unblocking them that I can
find. There probably more, but I haven't come across them yet :-(

I'm having the same problem. Brand new Dell, straight out of the box,
Windows Update installs 8 updates, and suddenly IE gets shut down by DEP
every time. I disabled all the add-ons, but IE still can't get past DEP. I
changed my DEP settings to exclude IEXPLORE.EXE, but IE 7 still gets shut
down by DEP. I'm running Vista Home Premium.

IE has been behaving itself since I found the work around, it's the rest of
it that's now driving me nuts!!

what work around are you referring to? I can only get mine to stay open on
Microsoft pages, breifly, anything else shuts it down.

Post I sent dated 2/2/07 above Xenaphore.

It's still working, not had any problems since I did that. Well, not with
IE anyway!

I have not had this problem, but what I have had is IE shut down by DEP after
Itry to open one site I have always trusted. I have added IEEXPLORE.EXE to
the DEP list, I disabled DEP and still the same results. This appears to be
the only problem I am having with this DEP.
