I have a friend that has win98se on her computer. She wants to install
some sort of plugin for a foreign language. It informed her that she
needed ie5.5 or better to do so. She has a slow dialup connection.
My question is could I download an upgrade for her and burn it on a
cd. If so where could I download it and should it be version ie6.0.

Providing it's a Microsoft update you can go to this page
or site:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

Then, to see the Update Catalog, look over at the left
pane and click on "Personalize Windows Update".

Now check the box "Display the link to the Windows Update
Catalog" and click "Save Settings"

The Windows Catalog link will now appear in the left pane
below "See Also". Click on it.

In the Windows Catalog you can select the operating
system and the downloads you need. You'll see there are
many, so select carefully by reading the information.
The rest of procedure is self explantory. Just remember
where you saved the file. Then copy it and transfer it
to another computer and install it.
