Internet Explorer won't Search

My internet explorer will not search when a phrase is
entered into the search box. It always returns "Page not
Found". I can type in a url in the address line or use
my favorites, but I can't search. Any ideas would be
appreciated.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Under Tools, Internet Options, Advanced Tab --

Check out what your settings are under the "Search from
the Address Bar" category. ;^)

I have been having the problem with the address bar search trying to open the URL
http:///? Search whatever whatever
and giving me the page not found error. I finally located a fix that worked for me on another forum. Here it is if you are having the same problem
Run "Hijack This" and check the box for the following entry if it is found
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file
Close any open browsers and click FIX
Open your browser and try your address bar search function
FINALLY. Post if this also worked for you. Hope I helped
