Can't perform internet searches

A recent problem on my desktop....when I enter a
word/phrase into the "search" window of Yahoo, I get a
response page that reads.....

Not Found
The requested URL /search was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while
trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/1.3.28 Server at plain.rackshack.net Port 80 (end)

Everything else works fine on the internet; I can get to
any known address without a problem by typing in the
correct URL. I just can't surf/search. Can anyone help me
out???
