Internet Explorer won't come up

I keep getting this error. Anybody have any ideas? I
reinstall Service Pack 1. I can't find msbp.dll anywhere
on my machine. What tool is it for? How do I get it back,
if I need it?

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName:
msbp.dll

Tom,

A google search turned up nothing on msbp.dll. Let's assume it's from some
sort of browser parasite or other malware.
So...
From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." That should allow IE to open.

Run CWShredder from http://www.merijn.org/downloads.html It's been
the most helpful with this problem. CWShredder is only about 125 KB so it
could be downloaded from another machine onto a floppy disk.

You may need to follow up with Ad-aware and/or Spybot S&D. Both programs
should be updated after installation- before use.
See: Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Also note security tips at that site.

You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.

If these steps don't fix things for you, post back to this thread.

msbp.dll does not appear to be a Microsoft file.

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
