Internet Explorer window closing

Maybe someone here can help. Last week my PC with windows xp with sp2 and
all updates began to automatically close windows while switching to another
site. All off-line programs work fine. When I open IE I can open my email
and view my home page. When I open a window from my email messages or from
my home page, the window that I was just in closes automatically. I cannot
open more than one window at a time. One opens, the other closes. I have
downloaded registry repair programs and have run all available anti-virus
programs. Some problems were detected and repaired. None of those that were
repaired fixed the window closing issues. I have no clue as to the direction
to go with this problem. Any help would be great.

Go to the Advance tab in Internet Options, scroll down to, and clear the
mark next to 'Reuse Windows for Launching Shortcuts'

Hi,
From IE> Tools> Internet Options> Advanced> Browsing> uncheck "Reuse windows
for launching shortcuts."

And... you may have a toolbar or program running which is blocking pop-up
windows- something like Yahoo toolbar, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, etc.
The Yahoo toolbar is a very common cause. Disabling the pop-up blocker may
allow a second window to open. Or you may have to uninstall the toolbar.

If you're sure that another program isn't causing this, these links should
help.

Thanks for the tip Ivee, unfortunately it did not seem to work. I
implemented your suggestion and rebooted. I checked the system restore
function to make sure it did not reboot with the reuse box checked. Still
closing a window when opening a new one!

Thanks for the tips Don. I have tried all of your recommendations and I
still come up short. I don't understand why I cannot open multiple windows?
A few weeks ago no problem! Now there is a problem. Virus free and
registry appears normal. I have to believe there is a box checked somewhere
that will not allow multiple windows to remain open. Any more advice would
be greatly appreciated.
