I am unable to open up Internet Explorer on my home PC.
Before the browser opens a prompt comes up stating that
there was a problem with the program that will not allow
me to open it. It asks me if I want to send a report to
Microsoft. When I reply, yes, after 5 minutes, it states
that nothing could be sent because the Microsoft webpage
could not be found. Anyway, after 1 year of being able to
open up a browser, all of a sudden, I cannot do it any
longer.

What should I do?

Same EXACT thing happened to me today! Can't open IE at all.
Hopefully, someone with some knowledege about this will
chime in.

I am having the exact same problem and am looking for help. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and nothing has worked for me yet. I am wondering if this is a virus.

I found this information as I kept looking into this newsgroup. I disabled third party browser extensions and IE worked for me again. I am now running AD Aware and Spybot Programs

This is probably a parasite problem

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced uncheck "Enable third part
browser extensions." That should allow IE to open

Run CWShredder fro
http://www.net-integration.net/tools/hijackthis.htm
It's bee
the most helpful with this problem
Note: usual download site for CWShredder would be merijn.org That site i
currently experiencing a denial of service attack

You may need to follow up with Ad-aware and/or Spybot S&D. Both program
should be updated after installation- before use.

Go To the Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced uncheck "Enable third part
browser extensions." That should allow IE to open

I disabled the 3rd party browser extension and IE works now. Thanx for the help. Now I'm lost without my bookmarks. Any way that IE will work with my yahoo toolbar, or do I have to give it up?

Ali,
Disabling browser extensions was an emergency measure so that you can
cleanup IE.

You should be looking for the malware that caused the problem with
CWShredder http://www.net-integration.net/tools/hijackthis.html

Spybot - Search & Destroy:
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd
(Remove items listed in red)
Ad-aware 6- Lavasoft: http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Both of these programs should be updated after installing, before using.

Re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.

I had posted a new thread without reading this one...how can you re-enable
third party extenstions if the program never even opens?...as in my case
Google taskbar was blocking all the ads for me, but in my case I don't see
why it should prevent the program to just open..run for a while until an ad
puts it down
