Internet Explorer will not connect to internet

Anyone out there can help? I tried unsuccessfully to set
up a wireless PC card on my Dell Inspiron 3500 running
windows 98 2nd Ed. and IE 6.0. I did reinstall windows per
Linksys suggestion. This resulted in some sort of
disconnect with explorer and the internet connectivity
(Parts of AOL Browser still work). When I go to turn off
my computer I get a error message:

Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module (unknown)
at 0000:0044 Lace

etc....

Anyone have any thoughts? Any help would be greatly
appreciated
