Internet Explorer very slow to open on Windows XP

Each time I click to open IE it take about 30 seconds to popup.
Is someone can help me fix that without reinstall the whole computer?

Are you by any chance running Norton Antivirus/Systemworks

I am having a similar problem. IE (and Outlook) opens

but does not connect immediately. It is frozen for about
30 seconds. I am not running Norton.

If you aren't running any Norton programs:
First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back

It works!

I had never tried to run more than one anti-spyware. I runned ad-awar
and spybot and it fixed the problem.

I still have one similar problem.

When I double click on a excel or word file, It takes more than 30
seconds to open. Wihtout a file it is fast. It append even touh if I
disable the anti-virus.

I tought that it was working, but it wasen't.

Still need 30 seconds to open IE when I pass a url to it.
