Even though I have a DSL connection and I'm able to ping
www.xxx.xxxx addresses from command prompt, my MS
Internet Explorer is unable to find the internet
connection (ethernet card). I get page can not be
displayed. It thinks I'm not connected. What can I do
to make Internet Explorer find the internet.

I think that may be a virus software running somewhere
deep in the os. :) Have a look in your /system32 dir. Is
there the file calling reset5.exe?

Max.

Ok, "Reset5.exe" is not a viruss, so to be clear this is
a crack program used to avoid windows activation. that is
all.

I have try to reinstall the system and then I was indeed
forced to use this utility... :) Because my distrubutive
supplied with my compaq is laying at home. But the fact is
fact - yesterday I was working without any problem in my
connections - gprs and lan, but today I'm not able to
connect to any service. All that things starts up from
that bad activesync message - seems to be something wrong
with sockets dll ws2_32.dll - you have an old version or
so.. I was replace this file with the file from my dist,
but all remains the same. (Sizes of files were different.
Installed dll was ~70k and dll from the dist was 76k.)

And now iexplorer or any other program that needs sockets
is not able to see sockets.
