Internet explorer slow down

I am having internet explorer slow down after cleaning the system from adware
using Lavasoft's Ad-Aware program. The systems I am talking about doesn't
have SP2 installed. What is the solution for this?

scan your system for viruses then if you have windows go to windows update
download all the critical updates for windows.
