I have been looking through the group and google, but
can't find a thread like what I have happening. Actually,
the ones I do see say reformat and reinstall, yeah, the easy soultion.

My internet explorer will not open. The hour glass appears for a moment
and then disappears and then nothing. It will open under Safe mode.
I have a feeling that I have some trojan or virus that corruptted
my IE. But scan the disk and found nothing. Oh, when I try to shut
down, I keep getting an error box that says Iexplorer is not
shutting down. I close the box and it just pops back up. I have to just
hold the power switch in to turn it off.

Other than that everything else seems to be working fine. This just
started about a week ago. I have firefox which work oks, but can't get
updates unless ie is working.

I can't be the first person that this is happening on their IE.

Besides reformatting, is there anything else I can do.

Thanks

I have seen this on computers with both google and yahoo toolbars installed,
I think it is a Google toolbar problem. remove both using add remove
programs then try internet explorer again when it works you can try
reinstalling the toolbars.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Ok, Ok Got it

I was able to get my hands on a copy of xoftspy
and ran it a couple of times. It found a pool of garbage.
Once it cleaned up my system, I rebooted and now Internet Explorer
is working again, not to mentin my system seems a little faster.
This software is fantastic!
Worked for me.....

BTW, death to the spammers, adware, spyware providers.
They should be found and tired to the backs of pickup trucks and
drug down a country road until their bodies look like fresh ground
hamburger.

Well. It could be anything. But, yes I agree. Remove all useless add-ons
first and see what happens.
