Internet Explorer not responding....

I play yahoo pool alot and you are required to download
the java applet in order to play. But everytime I try to
close the browser window running the java, it always
hangs up and does not shut down. So in order for me to
close the window is to go into task manager and end the
process. Any suggestions.
