Browser Closes On Some Siters

J

Joe

My browser will instantly close when I go to some sites.
I think the sites that I try to visit (like Yahoo Pool)
may be running some kind of Java or script or applet or
something that causes the program to close. I used to be
able to access these site but, not now.

Thanks,
Joe

Try the following information and see if it helps.

If you have Yahoo Companion, disable it, as it can such cause problems.

Try resetting your Security to Medium.

Open IE | Tools | Internet Options | Security tab - then set slider to
Medium.

or..................................

If you have SpyBot, click the Tools bar in the Control Center and uncheck
the Active X setting.

Hope this helps.

Try the following and see if it helps.

IE shuts down without warning
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers_5.htm#shuts_down

Empty your IE cache and your other temporary file folders, eg: c:\temp,
c:\windows\temp or C:\Documents and Settings\<name>\Local Settings\Temp (the
path to your temp folder will change depending on your name) - sometimes
programmes can be hidden in there - watch out for mysterious *.exe files or
*.dll files in those folders.

If the above does not work, it is possible you have parasites, spyware,
adware, malware, or hijackware on your system causing the problem, which
your antivirus will not detect, as it does not have the same definitions.

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software

Download and install, then you *MUST* update the programs prior to running
to be sure they have the latest definitions, then run the programs below.
They are free and very effective. Be sure to run both SpyBot and Adaware,
as what one does not detect the other may. It is important that you do all
the steps and follow all directions carefully

SpyBot Search & Destroy: Free

IMPORTANT:
Before trying to remove spyware using the programs below, download a copy of
LSPFIX from the URL below - some malware may kill your internet connection
when it is removed, this program will enable you to regain your connection.

AdAware: Free
