Hello,
This is a longshot...but, one question I have is can you
access all of the commercial search engines successfully?
(Google, AltaVista, Excite, etc.) I ask this because
from what you describe, you may have 'spyware' on your
computer....or worse, a virus referred to as Q-
host...which redirects your URLs for GOOGLE and other
search engines to lalaland. You end up never being able
to access the search engines. There is a way to remove
the offending code. Go to the symmantec site and search
for 'qhosts'. If you can access the engines OK, then you
may have spyware...in which case you should download
either Adaware or SpyBot and run against your hard drive.

It may be a HOSTS file problem.
Look for a file named HOSTS (no extension, could be hidden) rename it
OLDHOSTS.
