This error occurs every time I open IE 6. This started about 4 hours ago...

When open IE I get an error that says "Internet Explorer has encountered a problen and needs to close".
and the program needs to close. The program never opens up
to my home page.

The error signature is:
AppName:ieexplorer.exe
AppVer 6.0.2800.1106
ModVer 0.0.0.0
ModName mscb.dll
offset 00006238

It asks if I want to send the information to Microsoft, and
I have but it doesn't seem to help.

Please help.

Thanks.

I have also encountered this problem within the last few hours. Funny thing is, the problem doesn't appear when using IE6 on other accounts on my laptop; some have the problem, others don't. I can't seem to find the differences between the accounts in order to narrow down the problem

This is a BIG deal, since we some of us have bought into the Microsoft Vision for using IE as our sole web browser.

I'm having the same problem. I don't know when it began
because I've been away for about a week. No one used my
computer in my absence, when I opened IE 6 I immediately
recv'd the error: there was a problem with IE and the
program needs to close.

If I allow it to restart the browser it loops, opens one
gives the error, I close the error and it opens a new
browser then gets the error, etc etc etc.

Does anyone know what causes this to happen? Nothing has
changed on my PC, with the exception of an MS product (IE)
crapping out on me everytime I open it. Of course coming
here offers little to no help so far.

This is extremely frustrating.

Has MS posted any info on this problem. Gateway will not assist and sends you to their fee based tutoial people where I waited on hold for 20 min to pay them to answer my Questions. Got tired of waiting so, here I am.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
