IE6 Needs to Close

I'm getting the "internet explorer needs to close encountered a problem"
error message on closing any open browser window and the Error Signature
reads:
AppName: iexplore.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180
ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
Offset: 02291e90
I recently installed the Norton Internet Security version 7 update to
version 6 and this problem started. Symantec has not responded and I can't
find this Offset anywhere in the Knowledge Base. Any suggestions? Thank you.

And what if you uninstall NIS?

Uninstalled NIS and IE works fine. Thanks for that suggestion. Any other
suggestions on MSN's products or others to replace NIS?

I use AVG 7.5 (free version) and Windows Defender (free from Microsoft).
I've heard good things about Avast, NOD32 and Kaspersky. I've had good luck
with Ad-Aware and Spybot S & D.

I really dislike both Norton and McAfee. In my experience they both cause
trouble, especially with Outlook Express.
