Internet explorer goes to the same website

When I go to Internet explorer 6.0 and Type in www.google.com, instead of getting googles website I get www.sweepstakes.com. It appears that this sweepstakes website has taken over internet explorer except for my homepage which is cnn. It only takes over once internet explorer is open. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Very scarry, but I'm pleased your problem is fixed.

Thanks for your help, I was going crazy yesterday and by sheer luck I located

a program that was installed that must have come in through the backdoor. I
knew i didn't install any program on the date this program was created, and once
i deleted the program I got internet explorer back. Some of these backdoor
programs created by these adware companies are so maliciious that they bypass
all firewall and antivirus programs and install without user intervention.
