internet explorer - error, closes frequently

My internet explorer frequently (at least every few pages
i visit) "encounters a serious error" and closes when i
give it commands to change pages or send an email. I am
wondering if anyone knows what the cause could be (it
just started happening one day) and how i can fix it.
