internet explorer downloads getting corrupted

Maybe someone here can help me. Whenever i download
anything from Internet explorer at all, even if it's
through fileplanet's server or gigex.com or something,
even through Getright, it gets corrupted, and gets a CRC
error. whenever I download from p2p programs, they come
through fine, but I have to try four or five times to get
a valid file through internet explorer. I scanned my
computer for viruses and spyware, and found nothing.
Anyone have any idea what's going on?

I am tired of fixing the IE6. When I tried to reinstall the process
failed. Whenever I boot up it always asks me If I want to continue the
interrupted install. If I want to continue reinstall again it fails.

I'd like to know if I can remove IE6 entirely and just use a different
browser.
