internet explorer connection problem

Mark

Anyone who can help with this would be appreciated greatly.
I get the common error message with internet explorer that
the page cannot be displayed. I have a cable modem and when
I go into tools >internet options >connections > lan
settings and uncheck use a proxy server, internet explorer
works and I can access the web, but... in a few seconds IE
just shuts down. When I reopen it, the use a proxy server
option is checked again. Any idea how to fix this?
Many thanks!

Mark,

This KB says the settings cannot be saved:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314645

I'm unsure if reinstallation of IE can help. Better give it a try.
