Internet Explorer ActiveX

I

Ian

Opening XP Newsgroups with IE 8, (version 8.0.6001.18702IC), a heading at top
of screen says:
"You must enable ActiveX controls in order to browse Discussion Groups"
(Also can't click the + to expand the thread, which I expect is related).

This occurs with IE even though I have applied standard instructions to
ensure ActiveX is enabled through Internet Options and IE passes the ActiveX
test at
http://www.pcpitstop.com/testax.asp
Surprisingly another browser, (Slim Browser), does not have this trouble.
Any ideas how to make this IE work in this respect

Do yourself a favor and ditch the web based newsgroup reader and use the
one that came with your PC. In XP it's called Outlook Express and for
Vista it's called Windows Mail. You could even use a different
newsreader as there are several others available and much better than OE
and WM. Just Google newsreader and you'll get lots of results.
