You've got way too many services running. It appears you've got
some type of Norton home products installed. Based on the list of
services I'd question how much memory loading your computer is
having to deal with.

The IE-8 crashes are most likely due to Add-ons ( extensions of
the browser's native capabilities ). These are things like Java, Flash
,Shockwave, Toolbars.....Excepting the toolbars you want to have
the latest version of these add-ons installed for IE.

It's hard to give you a definitive place to start, but I'd use AutoRuns
to review and evaluate what Startups & Watchdogs your PC loads.
With what you have loading I'm not surprised the system is unstable.

-The running services are by default since purchase.
-Norton products were uninstalled at start up on day of purchase.

You may have uninstalled the Norton application(s), but you still
have Norton based services running. Just uninstalling Norton will
not remove 100% of the application.

You do understand that OEMs load down PCs with lots of
unnecessary apps that load down a PC and cause an overall
loss of performance.

Many PC technicians will take brand new PCs and remove these
value added programs from a new system. It's likely since the day
you took it out of the box it's never worked in a optimal way.

To question:
1. Am testing.
2. Will read first.
3. Yes
4. Norton was pre-installed but I uninstalled before ever using it. I've
just found a complete Norton Internet Security folder in the TOSAPINS folder.
Can I delete it or is there a way to completely remove norton?

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3).

1. Does the behavior persist if you start IE in No Add-ons mode? To start
IE in No Add-ons mode:

=> Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without
Add-ons; or

=> Start | (All) Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No add-ons).

2. Does the behavior persist if you Reset IE Advanced settings (RIES)?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 <= Read before using!

3. Is your CA Internet Security (CAIS) subscription current and is the
version supported in IE8? Were all CAIS processes running in the background
when you installed IE8?

4. Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine
(e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?

Many Norton services are named with cc_______. Your best
removal method is to download a Norton Removal tool that the
company Symantec provides.

Service changes are something that has to be done carefully.
One tip is to use Control Panel / Add/Remove programs and go
through the program list and check for unwanted or unneeded
applications. Removing the application will also remove any of
the startups & watchdogs it uses.

This isn't a web-based forum; it's a newsgroup. The reason you're
having such problems is that you are using the awful web interface to
participate in this newsgroup--it's the slowest, clunkiest, most
error-prone method of using the newsgroups there is. Do yourself a
favor and switch to a newsreader, such as Outlook Express, which comes
with Windows XP, or Windows Mail, which comes with Vista. See
