It's definitely not IE8... might be MSN Explorer 8, but not IE.

I Am Very Surprised 2 Hear That Dell Would Directly Ship A Computer With
A Beta Web Browser, As My Dell XPS 630I Came With MSIE 7.0, Just FYI.

Are You Sure That Someone Else In Your Family Did Not Install It With
Out Your Permission? I Have Been Caught Doing The Same Thing On My
Parent's Computer (And I Am Almost 31 Years Old), So Now They Do Not Let
Me Have Access 2 Their Computers, Or Else I Would Probably Do The Same
Thing 2 Their Computer (Install MSIE 8.0 Beta), Just FYI. Children
Always Like 2 Play With Stuff That They Should not Be Messing Around
With, Just FYI. You Can Uninstall MSIE 8.0 Beta By Clicking On Programs
And Features From The Control Panel (Then Click On Installed Updates).

Internet Explorer 8 does not appear to be released, it appears to be still
beta, so this would be a Dell warranty issue.

If you received a new system from Dell that actually came with a pre-release
version of IE installed, there is only one appropriate thing to do.

You should immediately call Dell support and require a replacement, as
inclusion of pre-release software would represent a major production
problem.

It would be completely unacceptable to ship such a system to a customer.
A system build like that might be acceptable for internal testing purposes,
but not for shipping.

With one exception, there's no other action that you should take, as you can
have no idea what else is wrong with that system.

The exception is that you must also back up and remove any data you have on
that system. Do not expect Dell (or any manufacturer) to place any value
on it.

P.S. I Should Also Mention That I Have Had Nothing But Good Experiences
With Dell Computer's, As Their Reliability, Technical Support, And
Customer Service Is Always At The Top Of It's Class, Just FYI. If You
Need Further Help, You Should Probably Give Dell Technical Support A
Call (1-800-WWW-DELL Here In The U.S.A.), Also Just FYI.

Internet Explorer 8 does not appear to be released, it appears to be still
beta,

[snip]

It hasn't even reached the stage where a public beta has been
released.

Calm down. The OP is wrong: it's NOT IE. It's MSN Explorer, a totally
different product.

Check in Programs and Features to see if you have "Internet Explorer 8"
listed to uninstall. If you do, then click on it to uninstall IE8 and go
back to IE7.

I absolutely guaranTEE that it's not listed there. If you don't know
that, I'll be surprised.

I think you used this as another excuse to tout the forum.

Hello DDW,

I mentioned this because when you install the Beta IE8 from the
Microsoft link below, it does have a entry in the Programs & Features
area to uninstall it with to go back to IE7. If Dell had installed it
using this or a similar method, then the OP may have a entry as well to
use.

'Internet Explorer 8 Beta: Get It Now'

I'm sure you are mistaken. Dell would not ship a computer with a beta
version of Internet Explorer installed. Check again.
