internet explorer 6

why when I try to download a patch for ie6 would it tell me that ie6 must be installed on your computer!!! I checked my version and it says ie6 and when I go to control panel it shows internet explorer sp 1 intalled ? Would anyone have an idea on this???

carey, the reason I questioned this was I do not show the

security patch Q323759 so when I went to Microsoft and
pulled up the patch to download it bought the download box
up and I opened it and it downloaded then a message
appeared saying I needed to have internet explorer 6 for
this patch that I was trying to download, that is why I
question this because my computer does show version 6 of
internet exp. Thanks you for responding I do appreciate
it..
