Internet Explorer 6

I have had Windows Explorer 6 freeze on me quite a few times now over the
last two weeks. I downloaded the file XP - KB 888240-x-86-ENU as requested to
fix this problem, but it hasn't. What it is doing is still freezing and when
I reboot it tells me to download the same file again. I have double checked
that I did install the patch, but it still tells me to.
So, after all that Windows Explorer 6 still freezes

Thanks Frank for your reply. I have been using adaware ( with latest update )
Also tried Microsoft's program, bbut it cracks up on this system.
I decided over night to do a gut and clean so will see how that goes.
However, I will checkout the links you have supplied.
