INTERNET EXPLORER 6 SHUTS DOWN AUTOMATICALLY

INTERNET EXPLORER 6 SHUTS DOWN AUTOMATICALLY WHENEVER I
LOG ON. TO KEEP IT FROM SHUTTING DOWN, I OPEN A PULLDOWN
MENU FROM THE TOOLBAR ABOVE. IF I OPEN THE PULLDOWN MENU,
IT BEEPS EACH SECOND UNTIL I CLOSE THE PULLDOWN MENU - BUT
THEN OF COURSE SO DOES THE INTERNET EXPLORER. WHAT CAN BE
DONE?

Hi Bryan,

I'd like to get a better understanding of this issue
since it is not very clear to me. Would you please
explain more specifically as to when IE will shut
down automatically? By saying "Internet Explorer 6
shuts down automatically whenever I log on", do you
mean IE starts automatically when you log on to the
computer and then IE will shut down after a while?
During the while, if you click on a menu such as the
Help menu, the computer beeps every second until you
close the menu, then IE shuts down?

I'd like to boot the computer into Safe Mode to see
what happens:

1. Restart the computer.

2. Keep pressing the F8 key until the Windows Startup
menu appears.

3. Choose Safe Mode and press Enter.

Sincerely,
