Internet Explorer 6 refuses to connect to Internet

Ever since I installed Service Pack 2, I have been unable to access the
internet using Internet Explorer 6. I'm now using Mozilla Firefox to post
this message. I thought maybe I could download and reinstall Internet
Explorer, but

1. Microsoft makes it so darn hard to find where to download it on their Web
site. They make you go in circles forever, and you can never find what you
are looking for. After a ridiculous amount of time, and a lot of confusion,
I think I might have found where to download it, but:

2. I'm so confused. I go to
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx but all they talk about is
Windows XP SP2. Well, I don't want to download the entire operating system, I
just want to reinstall the IE browser!! I already have SP2 installed.

3. Somehow I found a page that told me to go to
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ , but when I go there, the page is
completely blank. Probably because it's one of those "IE Only" pages. WELL
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET TO THAT PAGE IF MY IE DOESN'T WORK??!

The only reason that I want to have IE on my computer is because of those
stupid IE Only pages.

If anyone can help this confused and frustrated person, I would appreciate
it greatly. Am I on the right track thinking I should somehow reinstall IE
6, or is the problem something else entirely?

Thank you!

I have been having the same issue with my IE for a while.
At first I assumed it was a hardware issue but when other
programs that required the internet worked, then I realized
it was IE. I also am currently using Firefox and honestly
the only reason I want to be able to use IE is because I
want to be able to go to windows update. I have Windows
2000 and I was able to find IE to download but I ran into
this problem...if I do install it, it reinstalls everything
including Outlook Express which I am worried will erase
all of my contacts, etc. Either way I am stuck too and if
someone replies to you off the board I would appreciate you
sending it to me. Good luck.

SP2 is full of bugs. Uninstall it and wait for them to get fixed.
