Internet Explorer 6.0

Recently I started having problems with IE. I can not minimize, maximize or close webpages by using the buttons on the right hand corner of the page. I have to do it from the toolbar all the time which gets really annoying. This also is a problem when viewing my document folders, the same thing happens. I went through a bunch of setting and options but haven't been able to fix this. Anyone have suggestions? Thank you so much!
 
What happens when you try using the buttons that aren't working? Nothing? Or
are you getting some sort of error?
