please help me. i have the latest versions of ie6 and
wmp9 and a couple days ago both of these started shutting
down on me especially when i am trying to view some kind
of video online. I get the following messages:

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. And it gives
me the option of whether or not to send an error report.
AppName:iexplorer.exe AppVer:6.0.2600.0
ModName:gtcodec.dll
ModVer:1.10.0.0 Offset:000021c7

Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. It gives
the option to send an error report.
AppName:wmplayer.exe AppVer:9.0.02980
ModName:gtcodec.dll
ModVer:1.10.0.0 Offset: 00006a13

Please help this is very annoying.

Search for "gtcodec.dll" on your computer and rename it to
gtcodec.dll.bak, or delete it entirely. This will force WMP to
download a new version.
