internet connections

since installing xp i have had much trouble getting an it
connection. i bought an external modem to try boosting my
speed but even with that (zoom 3090) i am still only
connecting at abot 28 or less and that is only when i
disable my norton internet security. i would like to have
that enabled when online, since i paid for it, and trust
it. never had speed problems with windows 98. what is it
with xp? sure hope you can help as i am exhusted.

Sounds like you are using a dial up connection. Talk to your provider and see what their speed is.
