Internet Connection

Hello on my XP Home on a Compaq laptop In My Network
Places, if I click on view network connection's, it goes
to Network Connections, Internet Gateway shows
InternetConnection below this line is Disabled, below
this is internet connection. I cannot conect to my
Network on a XP Desktop

offline 2 I use XP's firewall can I just disable this
