Internet Connection

I'm experiencing a bizzarre DSL problem. For example,
tonight after work I connected with no problem. I
installed a Microsoft update , rebooted and could no
longer connect. The same has happened with Norton System
Works updates. The only way to connect again has been to
go to the same system restore point each time. Tonight,
however, I backed up the "system state" with my backup
program before I installed Microsoft's update and
connected with no problem after restoring from my backup.
This has been going on for 2 weeks now. Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.

unfortunately i've been having same problem for 3 months.
i have contacted my isp to find out if the problem is at
their end and wait their reply... i agree it is
frustrating and system restore does not always work,
especially after installing new programs/software.
i have posted this quextion in another xp newsgroup but
no luck as yet.
