Internet Connection Wizard fails

I am having trouble in creating a dialup internet connection. I use the
internet connection wizard (icw) and manually enter the telephone number,
i.d. and password. The list of modems fails to display. At the point that
the wizard asks for a name for the connection it gives an error message that
the name is invalid even when I select the default name chosen by the wizard
( connection to 1234567). I have lost all ability to do any networking
either dial up or over a local network using linksys wireless. I am able
to use the modem to send faxes.

any suggestions?

by linksys wireless i am assuming you have a LAN *cable dsl or phone dsl.

desktop right click on internet explorer -- go to properties
go to connections tab
click Never dial a connection
Lan Settings
check Automatically detect settings
OK
Apply
OK

try to see if you atleast get your LAN connection back before trying to set
up dial up
