Internet connection and VPN after upgrade to 2003 server

We used to be running a Windows 2000 server and had internet
connectivity through a broadband modem / router on the same subnet as
all connecting devices through a single adapter on the server. Due to
limitation of my own home ISP not allowing connections to news servers
from a different isp (ie the one I use at work) , I was able to
connect to my home PC via VPN and access the newsgroups from there as
though I was logged into my home ISP. Since upgrading to server 2003,
I have been unable to do this. I have had 2 scenarios. i) No internet
access whatsoever after connecting to the VPN and ii, after disabling
"Use default gateway on remote network", available internet access but
not able to log into news server as I assume it still sees me as
trying to connect from my work ISP. I am baffled. It used to work so I
guess it must be a routing issue of some kind that has changed since
our upgrade. I really need access to my news server as before. How in
the heck do I configure things so I can.

You can disable the remote gateway, connect via VPN, then connect to the
desktop using VNC or some other remote control app (through the VPN) and
run the Usenet app on your home computer viewing the information over
VNC through the VPN. This will let your home computer do all the work,
with Usenet access from the home computer, and still let you work at the
office.

You could also ask your Administrator about this.
