internet brwosing

hi, when i used to go on to a site, I used to have a littel box at the bottom which had green digits in it to show how long it was before the site opned up, now its gone, i dont even know the correct name for this!But i would like to get it back again.
any help would be appreciated.
 
go to the toolbar, located at the top of your screen, click view, then click Staus bar.
