I am looking for a way to restrict/limit internet access with a password for
different users, is there any way can do this? For example when you click on
internt explorer you have to log on to the internet with a certain username
and password which can vary for different users.

What you are asking can be achieved with XP Toolkit, which you can do a
search for on MS' website. It's free, however, you'll need Windows Genuine
bs to download...

The toolkit allows you to restrict certain user accounts, even if you give
them local admin rights. You just need to restrict the right combo so that
the user cannot undo your restrictions.

That would be a function of your network's proxy server, not the client
operating systems.

With commercially available software, you can restrict/limit Internet
access for different users. You need a program that is flexible, in
order so that different people can have different restrictions. This is
possible with the program iProtectYou at softforyou.com, because,
although only one person can have a password to change the settings,
you can establish the limits according to individual users. It follows
that you could set the program so that (for instance) a young child can
access the Internet just for 2 hours a day in the evening, and just to
a few specific sites, whilst an older child can access it for longer,
and to a greater variety of sites.
