Hi can any body please help, i have a domain controller
acting as a DNS server using microsofts root hints,this
allows 20 clients to access the internet, i also have
afirewall which has all been checked out and is running
fine. However everybody uses the dc to resolve there dns
queries, but only 3 internal laptops can access the
internet, even the dc cannot access the internet,but if i
run a ping from any machine including the dc i get a
reply, any idears why i cannot view web pages???????

On the DC do you have the "Preferred DNS Server" pointing to itself?

How many nics in the server? Does DNS on the servernic(s) point to your
server-IP only? What OS on the clients? Does the ipconfig/all show that
everything is pointing to your server-IP?
How are you connecting to the internet?

Possibly the three that are working are configured wrong and pointing to the ISP dns
server instead. You might want to try setting up the dns server to forward to the ISP
dns server. Also use nslookup instead of just ping to troubleshoot dns issues. Your
firewall needs to allow "outbound" port 53 udp to the internet for dns resolution. --
