internal stack errors

I am running windows xp and the system falls over - error
quoted; INTERNAL OVERFLOW HAS CAUSED THIS SESSION TO BE
HALTED. CHANGE THE STACKS SETTING IN YOUR CONFIG.SYS FILE.

Can someone advise me what to do
