I'm running IE 6 with Windows XP. For several months I occasionally have gotten "stack overflow in line: nn" error messages when trying to attempt to access certain web pages (e.g. contact microsoft on their support site). Two days ago I got a lot of these, got sick of it, and paid Bill Gates $30 for assistance. The second techie I got did solve the problem for me. He had me do a lot of things at once: delete all temporary internet files (which I do regularly anyway), reduce the security levels on "internet options" in the control panel, and run msconfig to not run any programs at start-up. This included not running WebWasher at all. The problem dissappeared
Subsequent process-of-elimination seems to show that the problem reappears when I use web washer. I hate to lose this nice utility
On the other hand, the Google pop-up blocker may be doing the same job for me and does not cause the stack overflow error message
Can anyone throw any light on this? Is there a way to change the parameters of the system so as to increase the RAM available for viewing internet pages (as one could do in earlier Windows using config.sys)? Is there a way I can use WebWasher and not get the stack overflow problem
Thanks!
