Intermittently can't ping a particular server

We are having this weird problem in our LAN. A few users loses connection to
a file server (Windows Server 2003) intermittently. If you do a continuous
ping of File server from these users PC (Windows XP SP2) you can see that
sometimes you'll get some "request timed out" for a few minutes then be able
to get reply again. Continous pinging of other servers from these same PCs
always gets reply.

If you do a continuous ping of File Server from other XP machines they all
work fine. So it looks like the problem is not with the File Server but with
a few XP machines. All servers and XP clients are in the same subnet.

Has anyone seen something like this? Any assistance and suggestion will be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,

Seanmig

I have been having this same problem on a couple of computers off and
on for the last 2 weeks. I have not found any help for this. I am
also having the problem of outlook 2003 losing connection at about the
same time, but we have a program that runs on telnet running at the
same time to another server that never drops out.

Anyone have any suggestions?
