Intermec cab files innstallation.

There are probably lot of people on this newsgroup that are working with
Intermec 700 mono and color terminals. Perhaps one of you can help me with
this problem:

Intermec has it's own system for installing CAB files after a coldboot. When
we write an application for CF then it's important that the CF cabfile gets
innstalled before the CF based apps. Because the CF based apps will not
innstall on a terminal without CF.

In the Intermec doucmentation several methods is mentioned on how to do
this. How one can modify autuser.dat,autocab.dat etc. But I can't get any of
them to work properly. And I have spent days now testing all possible
solutions. Can anynone help me?

I can't personally help you, but I know intermec has a great support
team which you can access via their website. I know they'll help you
work through it if no one here offers advice.

The problem is that nothing of what Intermec support suggests seems to
work...

Hi,
I am currently working with intermec700c and I am using those initialization
files.
It's difficult at the beginning, but now everything works just fine.
Exactly what do you want to do?

One of my biggest problems was that there's a bug that doesn't allow plain
vanilla boot from compact flash card, while this doesn't affect secure
digital cards... is this your scenario?

Takk! (That's thank you in norwegian).

I have tested the autocab.dat method. But I wasn't sure if I could trust it.
Do you have any idea why it's recommended to use the flash file store
instead of the CF/SD card? I have got exactly the opposite recomendation
from Intermec in Norway/Sweden.

I really had most trouble with cabfiles installation on the mono terminals.
It turns out that they always install the CAB files in the order they were
written to the CF the very first time.

I really think that the Intermec terminals are great devices. That can't br
said about their documentation. It's very often har to find what you're
looking at. If you find somthing it's very often quite confusing, and
sometimes what is says isn't rigth.

BTW: I see you're from Italy. I spent my summer holiyday there this year.
Great country, with friendly people!
