Compact Framework and Pocket PC 2000

I have a customer with Pocket PC's that runs Pocket PC 2000 (Intermec 700
terminals). Can they be used to run .NET Compact Framework solutions, or
must they be upgraded?

Does anyone know if there is any documentation on this topic?

Hi Thore,

I'm pretty sure there is an upgrade for these devices, may depend on exactly
which model they are. I have definitely upgrade some early PPC2000 Intermec
700's in the past, not sure if they were mono or color ones. The software to
do this can be found on the Intermec 700 CDK. I also think there is/was a
licencing issue whereby the upgrade was made freely available by Intermec
which upset Microsoft or something to that effect.

There is a PPC2003 upgrade available, although as yet, we have failed to get
any PPC2002 units successfully upgraded.

Cheers,

Chris

I've previously installed the Compact Framework on a 16m Jornada 545, no
probs. So I wouldnt' imagine there would be any difficulty.

Is the upgrade available for download ??

I have a number of 700 colour devices and would like to try upgrading one
for development purposes ...

Sorry for the delay, been away at Intermec. No, the 2003 upgrade is not
available for download due to licensing restraints. Try contacting your
local Intermec dealer or (e-mail address removed).

It's ok, I have been able to get a beta copy from Intermec today.

I am also told that the full release has been recalled due to problems and
as such the actual PPC2003 release for the 700 Colour is postponed. Know
anything about that?

Martin.

The new Intermec 730 device has just been released and it has an
extremely fast implementation of Pocket PC 2003 running on it. Other
700c devices like the 750 are still having issues with their 2003
implementations so you probably won't see an upgrade for them until
late February.
