The Dell memory recommendation is too high. Vista will run very
well in a 1.0 Gigabyte memory environment. I even have a Vista
VPC setup with 1.0 Gigabytes and you'd be hard pressed to tell
from a performance stand point that it's virtualized.
Cosmetically, Vista represents the biggest Windows change people have seen
in quite some time. We're talking Joan Rivers facelift here, not just a
little new lipstick.

The recomendation of 2Gb is for running with 'Aero' turned on... or does the
system you are talking about have this?
VPC does not use "Hardware Accelerated" Video drivers, so you'll get
Vista Basic Theme ( Non-Aero ). On my notebook it has a 945GM
Intel Chipset Video and does support Aero. The notebook has 1.5 Gig.
But even under moderate loading the notebook memory usage rarely
climbs over 800 Megabytes.
