I am getting phantom words appearing in Word ('03). The
source is a neighbor's feint wireless network that
appears to be crosstalking with mine--despite the fact
that it is neither configured nor selected by my own
network.

will your wireless access point or router allow you to
lock down your network by only accepting connections from
specified MAC addresses (i.e your machines)?

Mike,

please cite some of the phantom words.

Unfortunately, neighbor is a prof working on a neo-
marxist analysis of the press. Will try changing channel.
Thanks

I know it's my neighbor's Wi-Fi because we compared
phantom writing samples

Maybe I'll learn something here. We have many wireless users in our office
all with the same ssid and channel. All are using Word at the same time.
Never has wifi use resulted in users being able to write to anoter user's
document. If this was possible, there would be caos in many offices and
Word would be unuseable.

Would someone be kind enough to explain to me how wifi could cause the
symptoms described by Mike F.

Severe paranoia. (:-)

Actually the most likely culprit is a wireless keyboard. I am not sure what
the range is on those devices but that would explain. It could also be hard
to fix.

If its true then lets hope your passwords are not showing up in your
neighbors word processor.
